NALEDI TSHEGOFATSO MODUPI

Johannesburg based artist, Naledi Tshegofatso Modupi is a visual storyteller whose multi-dimensional art speaks about the human experience. With a powerful and distinctive style of portraiture, Naledi draws from her extensive knowledge and expertise in both traditional and digital art forms to create vivid and striking images. Whether working with acrylic paint, chalk, charcoal, or wool, Naledi's art is a celebration of life, love, and the power of the female spirit to transcend any obstacle.

Her portraits showcase individuality, boldness and energy expressed through the use of vibrant colours and continuous lines that define each face distinctly. These colors are also symbolic of her interest in celebrating the beauty of blackness and all the qualities associated with being a woman. Her work is deeply connected to this idea; it serves as an authentic celebration for women’s personalities and selfhood.

As an artist, she has had the opportunity to exhibit her works in various local and international galleries. She has had the pleasure of showcasing her pieces at USURPA Digital Gallery, Youngblood Gallery, Brutal Curation Gallery, and currently at Katmo Gallery in South Africa. In addition to her local exhibits, she has also had the honor of being featured in the Chicago Bulls Exhibition, Kura Kura in Bali, and Metropolis Contemporary. These exhibitions have allowed her to showcase her passion for art and express her unique vision through her diverse and captivating pieces. Through her exhibitions, she hopes to inspire others to view the world through a different lens and spark a conversation around the beauty and complexity of her subjects, being women.
