NENE MAHLANGU

Nene Mahlangu is a multidisciplinary visual artist based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Mahlangu's work explores African identity, fashion, and spirituality. She has a postgraduate certificate in design from UMUZI, a BSc in medical sciences, and has exhibited her work at local and international art fairs, including the Venice International Art Fair in 2020.

In 2019, Mahlangu made history by designing two coins for South Africa, including the first with a black girl's face. She was a finalist for the Arts & Culture Trust Impact Award in 2020 and was listed as one of the Mail and Guardian's Top 200 Young South Africans in the same year. In 2022, she served as the lead visual artist for Black Coffee's HiIbiza residency, creating 23 artworks for the project.
