THAMI JALI

Thamsanqa (Thami) Rutherford Jali was born in 1955 in Durban, South Africa. Initially a law student at the University of Zululand, he abandoned his law degree and later registered for a BA in Psychology and Philosophy.

In 1982 he graduated with a Certificate of Fine Art from Rorke’s Drift in Natal, and studied Ceramics at Natal Technikon from 1983-84, during which he co-founded the organization Arts Communication along with fellow artists, Bongi Dhlomo, Vuminkosi Zulu, Sandile Zulu, George Msimang and Wiseman Mbambo.
